The Fil da Fer was created by a group of friends in the 1960s when, during a blizzard, they got stuck on the Moro Pass at 3000 meters. To warm up they began to invent some hot drinks including the Fil da Fer. The name was chosen by seeing a copper tube come out of a gas machine used to boil the drinks; it was twisted like an iron thread and had the same color as the newly created liquor.
